ORIGINAL PLAYS AND ADAPTATIONS
In 2012, I completed a commission from The Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) to adapt James Joyce’s Ulysses into a play, which was directed by Michael Burnham and performed by the Conservatory’s Drama Department. The premiere of Ulysses played to an entirely sold-out run. Playwright Joe McDonough said, "Wolf's adaptation is both highly theatrical and richly literate, bringing to the stage the world of Joyce's Dublin in an exciting way."
Solo shows: HUNGRY MOTHER and IN REHEARSAL
In 2015, I was hosted by the Know Theatre of Cincinnati to develop and stage my original script, HUNGRY MOTHER. The show had a workshop production as a two person play but has since been revised as a solo show about Baba Yaga, the Russian folktale witch who eats children. HUNGRY MOTHER premiered in June 2015 in Cincinnati, Ohio. In Rehearsal premiered in 2008 and was recognized with two Cincinnati Acclaim Awards, for solo performance and solo script. The show toured to the Cincinnati, Minnesota, and Indianapolis Fringe Festivals, as well as to theaters in northwest Indiana and Minneapolis from 2008-2011.
Works commissioned by The Know Theatre
In 2011, The Know Theatre commissioned me to write their season closing production, The Dragon, which was inspired by a Russian play by Eugene Schwartz. The Know Theatre also premiered my play, The Eyes of Oedipus, a modern re-imagining of Oedipus Rex for two actors.
In 2014, I collaborated with Pones, Inc as a writer, choreographer, and performer in their performance piece TRAFFICK, which was about sex trafficking. TRAFFICK involved me partnering with Caracole and End Slavery Cincinnati, two organizations that support survivors of sex trafficking. Through my partnership with therapists in these organizations, I conducted interviews with women who were trafficking survivors. The interviewees granted permission for their stories to be integrated into TRAFFICK, and I adapted sections of the interviews into text for the performance.
My original full-length play, The Machine, received a staged reading at core.space Gallery+Performance in Chicago, IL.
For the screen, I wrote the script for a short film titled Faces of Oppression, directed by Nick Pilarski.
In 2015, I worked with performance artist, Sharon Penz to adapt the 4000 year-old text of the Sumerian myth "The Descent of Inanna" into an interactive performance. Please see the director tab for more information on this performance.
